At the recent 2014 Campbelltown & Macarthur Schools Parent Conference, hosted by John Warby Public School, 60 local primary and high schools were invited with over 150 parents attending. Parents were given the opportunity to gain information about career transition via the Parents as Career and Transition Support (PACTS) program, that was facilitated by MWLP – Linking Youth. The PACTS workshop focused on providing parents with general career information, resources and ongoing support so they can help their children make a successful transition from school to work. The aim of the workshop was to bridge the knowledge gap for parents on what options are available today.
Throughout the Conference parents were empowered to take up leadership roles in their families, schools and wider communities and were equipped with strategies to assist their children to meet the challenges of leadership and to develop their understanding of further education, training and career opportunities.
Since 2009 John Warby Public School has hosted the Annual Parent Conference, in partnership with the former Regional Multicultural Community Information Officer and Principals, representing John Warby Public School, St. Andrews Public School, Harrington Park Public School, Airds Public School and Leumeah Public School.
Since 2012 MWLP’s Partnership Brokers joined the Management Group to work together to achieve outcomes at each year’s parent conference. This year was celebrated with a focus on ‘Creating Tomorrow’s Leaders’.
