MWLP response to Budget announcement for Youth Employment Strategy

May 15, 2015

MWLP supports Commonwealth Youth Employment Strategy.

Local organisation MWLP is supportive of the $330 million Youth Employment Strategy announced as part of the 2015-2016 Commonwealth Government Budget. The stragety includes a range of targeted programs that aim to better prepare young people for the workplace so that they have the work-related skills needed by employers.  It also includes a focus on more intensive support for vulnerable young people who are most at risk of long term unemployment.

“The Youth Employment Strategy is critical if we are serious about supporting young people into employment – and if we are to confront the issue of long term unemployment where it begins.  The alternative is to waste human talent and capability – which is detrimental to young people, their families, the economy and the community,” commented MWLP CEO Steve Montgomery.

“MWLP supports this positive and proactive response from the Commonwealth Government announced in the recent Budget.  It is fabulous news for young people and their families, as it means young people will receive the support and guidance they need to become work ready.  It is also a great outcome for employers, as the Youth Employment Strategy will see more work ready young people who are capable of taking on the jobs they are providing.”

MWLP has 20 years’ experience in working with Macarthur business and industry to support young people to develop work readiness skills and is thrilled that the importance of this work is upheld by the newly announced Youth Employment Strategy.

“This is also very positive news for our staff and clients who believe so much in investing time and effort in nurturing young people,” added Mr Montgomery.

“MWLP hopes to be a part of this exciting new forward direction to continue its essential work in the Macarthur area.”
