Macarthur Parents Passionate about their Offspring

Jun 14, 2013

Recently 78 parents attended an information session at Narellan Library that was designed to unveil the mystery surrounding the ATAR.

It may be a small acronym, but it can have a crucial impact on further education choices and career outcomes for HSC Students.

The University of Wollongong helped clarify the meaning and explained in a very engaging way how it is calculated. The ATAR is the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank. It is a number between 0.00 and 99.95. An ATAR of 80 indicates that a student is in the top 20% of his or her age group.

The ATAR is used by Institutions (such as Universities and Colleges, etc.) to rank applicants for selection into their courses.

Basically students can achieve their best score by choosing subjects that they are most interested in and are good at.

Feedback from parents was excellent with comments like “Jacqui was very engaging and explained everything really well. She was happy to answer all questions.”
