Thousands of Year 10, 11 and 12 students attended the recent Macarthur Area Careers Expo held at the Minto Indoor Sports Centre.
The Expo is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about career paths and particular jobs that may be of interest to them.
The level of enthusiasm was high with a lot of students focused on what they want to do, but for the majority it is still quite a mystery.

There was information on how to acquire a Traineeship or Apprenticeship and University entry criteria and course information.
From careers in Hospitality, Beauty, Health and Fitness, Business, Entertainment, Graphic Design, Medicine and Music – there was something for everyone.
Local youth organisation MWLP – Linking Youth was among the exhibitors and had some great contact with the attendees. Amber Hope, MWLP’s Career Development Specialist said “Sometimes it only takes a career conversation to help someone start on their career pathway. Getting to know the student, their interests and skills and then talking to them about career possibilities that they may not have considered, or even heard of, really excites me.”
Careers Expo Co-ordinator, Larry Margerison adds “ This once a year event gives students of the Macarthur region a chance to meet and talk directly to the people involved in their post high school career paths and see the wide range of options available”.
