The Gamma Raycing Team, consisting of six students from Magdalene Catholic High School, is on its way to Abu Dhabi for the 2014 F1 in Schools World Finals.
The competition will be held at Ferrari World from the 17th to the 20th November. Over 300 students from 23 countries will be competing for University Scholarships to City University London and for the prestigious Bernie Eccleston World Champions trophy.
The Magdalene High School students will be racing their specially designed and manufactured miniature F1 Balsa wood car down the track as well as giving a verbal presentation, presenting a pit display and much more. Two and a half days of intense competition will be followed by a gala evening Awards dinner.
It won’t be all hard work as the teams have also planned some exciting activities including, visiting Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld, riding dune buggies in the desert and camel rides.
They will also attend the 2014 Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, experience the race and get to meet world famous Australian F1 Racing Driver, Daniel Ricciardo.
It has been an eight month journey preparing for the World Finals with lots of hard work,(early mornings and late nights) planning and budgeting, working on their presentation, preparing and developing the cars, manufacturing and testing, designing their portfolio and pit display, resourcing and marketing. And they are truly ready.
Hannah, Elyse, Jordan, Luke, Matt and Troy are Gamma Raycing and they would like to thank Mr. Gorrie, their very supportive and dedicated teacher, school, sponsors, supporters and of course their parents.
What an outstanding achievement and what a way to put Macarthur on the map for providing such wonderful opportunities to our students and future leaders.
F1 was designed to help connect students to the engineering industry by making learning relevant and fun and they have definitely achieved this.
MWLP – Linking Youth, who is a proud supporter and Platinum sponsor of Gamma Raycing, wishes the team every success in Abu Dhabi.
