This will assist them in gaining validation of their training and assessment strategies.

MWLP has the expertise and contacts necessary to give this essential feedback to the Catholic Education Office Registered Training Organisation.

Vocational courses are undertaken in Year 11 and 12.  The courses provide a wonderful opportunity for interested young people to gain valuable skills and get work ready early.

An essential component of the courses is ‘work placement’ where the students get to put in practice what they have learnt.  Quite often students are offered a traineeship or apprenticeship or casual work with the host organisation.

MG My Gateway, leaders in employing Apprentices and Trainees, were the first organisation to offer their greatly valued input as Industry Advisors.

Steve Horn (MG My Gateway Field Officer) believes that it is essential for industry to be able to provide this much needed advice to educators.  “Businesses need to know that students, undergoing these Vocational courses at school, are being taught exactly what they need to know to be effective in the workforce.”

Steve is also a great advocate of teachers undergoing work placement and building connections with industries. He says “It is good for teachers to also see how industry works and it is a vital opportunity to create links”.

Janelle Henson, MWLP’s Training & Industry Liaison Consultant, commented “We are pleased to be supporting the Catholic Education Office to make important links with industry for the long term benefit of young people and industry”.
